Hi,

I would to invite you to the Kojimachi Collection in Kojimachi for my solo exhibition “Tokyo Memory Walks and Kojimachi Interstices” starting on August 18th. I will be exhibiting a new series of Interstices composite photographs created while exploring the area around Kojimachi. In addition, I will be displaying a new selection of Tokyo Memory Walks drawings. Take a break from the summer heat and come by and say hello and check out my new work at Kojimachi Collection.

About Memory Walks (The World Is Not Flat) at HAGISO

For Memory Walks (The World Is Not Flat) at HAGISO as part of the Tokyo Spidering group exhibition, each eggshell drawing represents a walk that I took during the month of September.  For example, going from my apartment to the train station, or going from the train station to the bus stop, or going from work to the supermarket.  Each string of eggshells represents one day of walks going from September 1 to September 30.

The location of each egg is the approximate time in which I took that particular walk with time going from top to bottom (9 am to 1 am).  I make the drawings the day after the walks in order to see and experience how my memory reconstructs these walks and perceives time and space as compared to the actual walks and maps.

On October 23rd and 24th, I will be at HAGISO from 6:30 pm – 9 pm making new Memory Walk drawings for the month of October.  Please stop by and say hello.

As part of the Tokyo Spidering events, I am inviting visitors to HAGISO to come to the gallery this coming Saturday, October 26th from 1 – 3 pm to share their memory walks to HAGISO.  Tell me how you came to HAGISO and I will create your HAGISO memory walk drawing for you to take home.

散歩記憶力(地球は平たんじゃない)の解説

ハギソで私の作品のタイトルは『散歩記憶力（地球は平たんじゃない）』というものです。卵の殻に絵が描かれていますが、それぞれの絵は、私が9月に行った散歩の一回分を表しています。例えば、アパートから駅へ、駅からバス停へ、あるいは、職場からスーパーへ、などです。そうした卵のひとつながりが一日分の散歩となり、9月1日から30日までの分があります。

卵の位置は、一日の中でその散歩を行った時間を表します。上の方の卵は朝早くの散歩、下の方の卵は夜遅くの散歩ということになります。散歩をした次の日には必ずそれぞれの散歩の絵を描きました。実際の散歩と比べて、自分の記憶がどのようにこれらの散歩を再構築し、時間や空間を認識していくのかを見出そうとしたのです。

10月23日と24日の午後6時班から9時まで、私は新しい散歩記憶は書きます。その間HAGISOに行けば是非私に声をかけて下さい。ぜひご参加ください。

10月26日の午後1時から3時まで、東京クローラのイベントの一つを私が担当します。ハギソまで歩いて来られた皆さんの記憶をシェアするというイベントです。どうやってこのハギソまでお越しになったのかを教(おし)えていただけば、私がその場でハギソまでの散歩ドローイングを描き、それをお持ち帰りいただけます。ぜひご参加ください。
